Dear Isaac
Thank you for your email, please see my response below in red.
Note, that to the best of my knowledge the UAP does not have a policy on crypto currencies – therefore the opinions expressed are my personal opinions and ones to which I will advocate for if elected.
The party does have policies which are sympathetic to the organic growth and the ongoing existence of bitcoin which include a return to national sovereignty – geographical, political, cultural and financial.
- What is your position on Bitcoin? – I am in favour of the existence, growth and further development of bitcoin’s applications.
- Do you accept Bitcoin donations? – No, unfortunately – we should and I can advocate for this moving forward.
- Do you believe that “crypto” should be regulated as a whole, inclusive of Bitcoin – despite the sizeable differences between the two, – or do you believe there are several categories within “crypto” (e.g. stable-coins, security tokens, etc) and that Bitcoin deserves its own category, and thus its own separate regulations (much like in other countries)? – I do accept a distinguishable difference between bitcoin and crypto currencies generally, this is based on the original design of bitcoin and its specific characteristics, namely its autonomy. I am relatively well self-educated on the subject; however, I am not an expert. My desire and intent would be that any regulation on bitcoin would be minimal and would not impede its current function, purpose or potential in any way.
