We reviewed the Digital Assets Bill that has been presented to Parliament and are consulting with key stakeholders regarding the implications.

We provided Treasury with our position regarding their intention to introduce legislation that aims at “Clarifying crypto not taxed as foreign currency”

We provided the Board of Taxation with our position regarding their intention to review the tax treatment of digital assets and transactions

We made a submission to NSW government as part of their consultation request on nationally consistent scheme to access digital records upon death or loss of decision-making capacity

The members provided to AUSTRAC feedback on draft guidance to Australian Financial Institutions regarding customers in higher risk sectors

Our members, which are all the Aussie Bitcoin Exchanges, had a second and very productive meeting with AUSTRAC (Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre)

All Members and Sponsors were invited to the meeting where we discussed past activities, future plans and financials

We submitted our response to Treasury in regards to ‘Crypto asset secondary service providers: Licensing and custody requirements’

We sent an email to over 800 federal elections’ candidates asking them 3 Bitcoin related questions:

1. What is your position on Bitcoin?

2. Do you accept Bitcoin donations?

3. Do you believe that “crypto” should be regulated as a whole or do you believe there are several categories within “crypto” (eg. stable-coins, security tokens, etc) and that Bitcoin deserves its own category, and thus its own separate regulations (much like in other countries)?
