    Change of Guards

    Daniel Alexiuc stepped down as Director, replaced by Elmo Stoop.

    Bitcoin Petition

    We made a petition (Australia Should HODL Bitcoin) to the Australian Parliament House. The petition was approved by the petition committee and has been sent to the Treasurer for review.

    Attorney General Submission

    We made a submission to the consultation process of the Attorney General’s Modernising Australia’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regime.

    Open Letter to Commonwealth Bank

    We wrote an open letter to Commonwealth Bank regarding their restrictions on payments to bitcoin exchanges. Since then, other banks have also implemented delays or bans on transfer to bitcoin exchanges with little to no transparency.

    We made a submission to the Australian Parliament House regarding their proposed Treasury Laws Amendment (2022 Measures No. 4) Bill 2022.

    We reviewed the RBA’s CBDC pilot program and provided our position on the pilot via Twitter.

    Federal Elections Survey

    We sent an email to over 800 federal elections’ candidates asking them 3 Bitcoin related questions:

    1. What is your position on Bitcoin?

    2. Do you accept Bitcoin donations?

    3. Do you believe that “crypto” should be regulated as a whole or do you believe there are several categories within “crypto” (eg. stable-coins, security tokens, etc) and that Bitcoin deserves its own category, and thus its own separate regulations (much like in other countries)?
