Dear Issac,
Thank you for taking the time to email me with regards to your questions outlined in the email below. With regards to said questions;
The Liberal Democrats Party are supportive of Bitcoin and other Crypto currencies.
We do not accept Bitcoin donations unfortunately only because we are not set up to process Crypto currencies at this time. While we might hit like a heavyweight in the political world, we are still a smaller party, but growing at a steady rate, so I have no doubt that we will be set up for this in the future.
Being that we are a Libertarian Party, we believe in free markets, so that means less regulation. I work in the finance sector and have done so for close to 2 decades at this point. While regulation is important, I have often found that those who implement said regulation actually make it harder for those who need access to capital to get it. I would hate for that to play out in the Crypto space. I can tell you that in our Freedom Manifesto (10 policies we are campaigning on), we do actually highlight that we would like to classify Cryptocurrencies as actual currencies. The benefit of doing this is that Crypto traders would avoid paying Capital Gains Tax. As Cryptocurrencies are currently classified as an asset its traders are unfairly discriminated against. We would very much like to change that.
Issac I hope I have sufficiently answered your questions and I appreciate you reaching out to me with regards to your questions. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
Best Regards,
Anthony Cursio
